August 26th, 2019
It’s near the end of 2019, but just the beginning for this years MTV Video Music Awards. Hosted by Sebastian Maniscalco and taking place in Newark, New Jersey at the Prudential Center is the 2019 MTV VMA Awards. “Dirty Jersey” definitely gave great energy and this VMA’s was one to remember. Taylor Swift opened up this famous award show, with Cardi B following behind taking home the first award winning Best Hip Hop. Later on we had the Jonas Brothers, back in their hometown, performing at Stone Pony bringing the VMA’s to Ashbury Park.
Missy Elliott, recipient of the Video Vanguard Award, shut down the VMA’s completely with hit after hit. Missy served us powerful creativity in her visuals as well as giving the dance community a moment to shine their light. Missy spoke a humble yet powerful speech in acceptance to her award and showed us exactly why she deserved it. Also in this years VMA’s, Taylor Swift takes home the ‘Video of the Year Award’ and we have Lil Nas X along with Billy Ray Cyrus take home Song of the Year. Performances were also granted from artists, H.E.R. with her new single on society’s standards followed by Normani’s first solo performance from her late hit single, Motivation.
As the VMA’s near a close, Bad Bunny and J Balvin show is how to turn up, Latino style. Taking home this years ‘Best New Artist’ is LA’s Billie Ellish. She couldn’t be in attendance to tonight’s show but she managed to send a thank you video for all her fans support. Lastly, but surely not least, VMAs gives a Jersey reunion with Queen Latifah, Naughty By Nature, Redman, Wyclef Jean, and Fetty Wap all sharing the same stage putting on for Dirty Jerz! 2019 VMA Award Show is definitely going down in history, especially Jersey history. Shout out to MTV for the visuals of tonight’s show, they were definitely one of a kind. Tune in for next years award show, as it should be another moment down in history.
