NBA Worthy From the 302

June 20th, 2019

Straight from the 302, Delaware’s own Malik Curry is on his rise to the top. Curry started off with a few trials but has worked hard and proved his worth to every single team he’s been a part of. He started off his high school career at St. Elizabeth’s in Wilmington, DE, later transferred to API in Dallas, TX and then finished off at Putnam Science Academy in Manchester, CT. During the summer all of his time went to his AAU team, We-R1. His team took home the UAA title back in 2017, having We-R1 to be back to back champions. After successfully finishing his high school career, Curry takes his talents to Florida’s JUCO Palm Beach State. The 6’0 point guard started out averaging 19.6 points a game for his first season and only got better averaging 21.9 points his second season. Curry finished his last season as a second-team All American and will now be taking his talents to Old Dominion University in Virginia this fall. Seeming as Malik has had so much going for him involving basketball we’ve decided to ask him a few questions in regards to his career.

EHHD: What motivates you to go so hard with basketball?

Curry: I have a family depending on me. My dad passed away at 13 so it was hard growing up but I had to continue to keep a straight head and get the job done.

EHHD: What is your plan or goal in life?

Curry: My goal is to finish out school, declare for the NBA draft this upcoming year or the next, move my grandparents out the hood, and take care of my mom when she retires.

EHHD: How did you fall in love with basketball?

Curry: I fell in love with it when I first went to Texas and didn’t play at all the first 7 games. It humbled me. It taught me how hard I have to go if I want to play against the best.

EHHD: You come from Delaware, does that mean anything to you? Knowing many people don’t know much about Delaware?

Curry: Coming from Delaware is a blessing. Many don’t make it out and I have a chance to be one of those that do.

EHHD: What does basketball mean to you?

Curry: Basketball means everything to me. It’s the reason why I’ve made so many new relationships, lived in so many states, and got a free education for college.

EHHD: Who are your inspirations?

Curry: My family, nobody else. We’re glad to say we have been a witness of Curry’s growth and to only see him get better is truly amazing. Great things ahead for Curry and wish him only the best!
