Quavo’s New Song “Greatness” Second Tribute to Takeoff
Quavo has recently shared a new music video for his new song “Greatness” - a song to honor his late nephew and former bandmate Takeoff.
Last year, Takeoff was shot and killed outside of a bowling alley during a private party in Houston, Texas, on November 1st.
Takeoff was the third member of the hip hop band Migos. Although, due to inside circumstances, Takeoff and Quavo had created a separate group called “Unc and Phew,” alluding to their family ties. The pair had recently released an album together called “Only Built for Infinity Links,” in October 2022.
“Greatness” is the second tribute song to Takeoff by Quavo. Quavo shared his first tribute in “Without You,” in January and even performed it at the 2023 Grammys with gospel group, Maverick City.
During the song's outro, Quavo reflects on Takeoff, saying, “I couldn’t do it without the greatest nephew in the World.”
The Grammy performance allegedly created a discord for the two remaining band members backstage after Quavo wouldn’t let Offset join him on stage.
“Tears rollin’ down my eyes/ Can’t tell you how many times I cried/ Days ain’t the same without you/” Quavo sings.
The song addresses the future of the Migos group, saying, “So don’t ask about the group, he gone, we gone.”
To accompany the new song, Quavo released a music showing Quavo watching old videos of the duo on the TV in the mansion while also flexing his jewelry, cars, and money. RIP Takeoff.
