In a recent interview with Apple Music, 2023 Super Bowl Halftime performer Rihanna teases on what fans should expect from the show.
The Barbadian singer appeared at a 2023 Super Bowl press conference in Phoenix, Arizona on Thursday sharing that she has been working nonstop on her upcoming performance and hasn’t had much rest.
“I have yet to sleep, we were working at the venue all last night and I kinda just stayed there, ended up in a prep, and somehow I’m here at a press conference,” Rihanna said.
Rihanna states that she has spent months preparing for her major halftime show performance and shares with interviewer Nadeska Alexis on how it's almost impossible to prepare for such a big show in eight minutes.
“I mean, it’s literally, like, 300 to 400 people breaking the stage down and building it back up and getting it out in eight minutes. It’s incredible. It’s almost impossible.”
This upcoming performance will mark Rihanna’s first major performance in seven years and since welcoming her first child in May of 2022. It will also be one of the biggest music comebacks being that the artist has not released any music since the “Anti” album released in 2016. Rihanna states that the timing to perform at the Super Bowl could only be now at this moment in her life.
“When you become a mom it’s something that just happens when you feel like you can take on the world and you can do anything. The Superbowl is one of the biggest stages in the world,” Rihanna said.
Haven’t been on stage in 7 years, the Fenty singer states that her son is one of the biggest reasons she decided to take on this big role.
“It’s important for my son to see that,” says the 34-year-old singer.
With rumors circulating around that the artist will announce new music soon, Rihanna addressed her thoughts on getting back to music and what music we could possibly look forward to.
“Musically I’m feeling open, I’m feeling open to exploring, discovering, and creating. Things that are new, things that are different. She continues. “I just want to have fun. I just wanna play with music.”
