Megan Thee Stallion and CEO of 1501, Carl Crawford, have been beefing with each other since 2020. The conflict between the superstar rapper and Carl arised from the rapper filing a lawsuit against the label. According to a 2022 NME article, the reasoning for the rapper to file a lawsuit was “attempting to keep her locked in her contract.” For the rapper to end her contract with the 1501 label she asked a judge to deem her 2021 project “Something For Thee Hotties” as an album to break ties with the 1501 music label officially. With more fuel added to the fire, the 1501 CEO was recalled stating the project was a “bullshit ass mixtape” and countersued the next month.
Following up on being countersued, the 28-year-old rap artist adjusted her lawsuit to gain $1 million in destruction. According to HipHopDX, The 1501 label allowed the rapper’s departure by stating that Megan had “satisfied her contract with 1501, granting her exit.” A remorseful Carl Crawford recently addressed the issue between him and the former label mate. Crawford wanted the drama between him and Megan Thee Stallion to officially be water under the bridge. Crawford, acknowledging that he has made “mistakes” has also pledged to stop bashing the rapper in public.
“Me and Megan, we haven’t talked since 2019”, stated Carl when chatting to TMZ. “We’ve been going through, I guess, what you guys see online and it’s unfortunate because I never wanted to have a situation where I was, you know, going back and forth with her on the internet.” Recalling never admittedly having any issues with the Savage rapper, Crawford declared,“It’s just the social media stuff, it turned really, really sour.” The 1501 CEO claimed, “I think I just got wrapped up in the whole scheme of things that was going on.” He blamed his reasoning for acting divisive due to his competitive nature.
