FORT LAUDERDALE, Fl- Last Thursday, a Broward County circuit Judge issued Kodak Black an arrest warrant for failing a drug test while he was already out on bail for a drug charge.
Kodak Black, legal name Bill Kapri, was arrested back in July 2022 for trafficking oxycodone and possession of a controlled substance. Judge Barabra Duffy of Broward county recently released a statement that the rapper had violated the conditions of this pretrial release.
Florida Highway Patrol officers found 31 oxycodone tablets and $75,000 in cash in Black’s vehicle, leading to his arrest.
Kodak Black later pleaded ‘not guilty’ to the oxycodone trafficking charges. He was initially released on bail while regularly submitting to drug testing and remaining drug-free.
In early February, the rapper failed to attend his scheduled drug test while still on bail for drug charges. A few days later, he submitted a sample test that contained fentanyl.
As this is not the rapper's first time running into trouble with the law back in 2020, Black served a prison sentence for the falsification of documents that he used to buy weapons. Donald Trump released him halfway into his prison sentence, commuting his three-year term.
Black planned his third studio album, ‘Bill Israel,’ while incarcerated.
Kodak Black is currently nominated for the 2023 iHeartRadio Music Award’s ‘Hip-Hop Artist of The Year.’ After being incarcerated, the rapper sold over 30 million singles and even found success with hits like “Super Gremlin.”
