Brigitte Inverary: March 6th, 2023

According to HipHopDX, on March 5th in Rochester, NY, gunshots were allegedly fired inside The Main Street Armory theater where Glorilla performed beside fellow Memphis rapper “Finesse2Tymes”. The claim of hearing gunshots caused terror “leading to a deadly stampede that injured nine people in total,” stated ABC News. Although multiple people were injured, there was no evidence obtained of gunshot wounds which made police question if there was an actual shooting in the facility. According to Lieutenant Nicholas Adams he stated, “At this time, there is no evidence to support a shooting having occurred inside the event. The injuries appear to be as a result of a large crowd pushing towards the exits following accounts of individuals hearing what they believed to be gunshots.”

Three individuals were carried into an ambulance and taken to Strong Memorial Hospital in non-critical condition. Moments after the show, the “Tomorrow 2” rapper went to Twitter to speak on the situation. On the platform she writes, “I’m just now hearing about what happened wtf praying everyone is ok.” Shocked and confused by the incident, a 25-year-old fan that attended the concert stated, “I don’t get what happened, I was in the middle of that crowd. Still, I didn’t hear any gunshots.” The fan followed up by stating that as people started to exit the 23-year-old rapper’s set, “everyone started running outta nowhere. It made no sense.”

According to The Daily Beast witnesses and attendees shared on social media that “The Armory could have been over its 5,000-person capacity.” News reporter Alec Richardson covered the tragedy and tweeted, “Major emergency response at the Main St. Armory after a concert.” Richardson affirmed that concertgoers witnessed three women mashed upon. The reporter had attested that witnesses, “saw a firefighter performing CPR presumably on a victim on scene.”
