The Weeknd Is The First Artist On Spotify To Receive 100 Million Monthly Listeners

The Weeknd hits another huge milestone as he becomes the first artist to achieve 100 million monthly Spotify listeners.

On February 27th, Spotify officially released that The Weeknd has become the first artist to receive 100 million monthly listeners on Spotify.

The 33-year-old Canadian native is best known for his explicit songs that capture his romances, drugs, and sex. His hit song “Wicked Games'' brought him to relevancy, hitting platinum status back in 2013.

This accomplishment, aside his others, place The Weeknd at a megastar status. Compared to other megastars, like Taylor Swift, only receives 80,313,167 monthly listeners.

The Weeknd also has five diamond singles, which include “The Hills,” “Save Your Tears,” and “Can’t Feel My Face.”

In addition, the renowned artist possesses the most streamed song of all time, “Blinding Lights”, making it a massive landmark in the music industry. 

In December 2022, The Weeknd released the “Nothing is Lost " track (You Give Me Strength) on the Avatar: The Way of Water soundtrack.

This past week, The Weeknd released a remix collaboration with Ariana Grande, for their hit song “Die For You,” which was initially placed on the Starboy album.

In addition to his musical talents, The Weeknd is creating an upcoming HBO drama, “The Idol”, which he is creating alongside Euphoria producer Sam Levinson.
