Kanye West will not face charges for his recent “battery” allegations.
In late January, the controversial rap star, who recently legally changed his name to “Ye,” was investigated for snatching and tossing a woman’s phone while leaving his daughter’s basketball game. The two argued in their cars before a bystander recorded Ye snatching the woman's phone and throwing it into the street. It was later confirmed that the woman was not a hired cameraman. Police arrived at the scene at 4:30 pm, where they provided a video clip as evidence against Ye. Ye explained to the paparazzi the same day that professional photographers violate his “human rights” daily.
TMZ obtained documents from the Ventura County District Attorney's Office, which showed that the woman's phone only suffered minor damage, resulting in only $30 of damage to the case. The documents also show that the woman declined to press charges.
“You didn’t have to run up on me like that,” said Ye as the woman filmed inside her vehicle. She later responded that West is a celebrity, which justifies her taking photos/videos.
In a series of paparazzi encounters in close proximity to the incident, West explained his negative experiences with photographers and his choice to take medication.
West has made headlines in the past year for controversial behaviors, making every incident a “revelation” for West.
