According to Source Magazine, rapper and entrepreneur, T-Pain has released his long-awaited covers album, ‘On Top Of The Covers’ via Nappy Boy ENT debuting on March 17th. Throughout the album, listeners can hear the ‘Kiss Kiss’ artist’s signature smooth and profound voice to particular song hits. Audiences will be captivated and shocked to discover an autotune-free album compared to his earlier discographies.
Pain reprises a cover of Sam Cooke’s ‘A Change Is Gonna Come’ along with Chris Stapleton’s ‘Tennessee Whiskey’, Sam Smith’s ‘Stay With Me’, and many more. “This covers album has been years in the making,” Pain stated via HipHopDX. “I started recording this right after I won The Masked Singer. It got put on hold for a bit but now that I am independent, I’m able to do whatever I want to do through Nappy Boy Entertainment and this is something I’ve felt strongly about for a long time.”
The singer’s awareness of auto tune has helped the ‘Buy U A Drank’ singer understand that since using the music device, it has made him tons of money every time an artist decides to use auto tune back in the early 2000’s. “Is it true that there was a point and time where you got paid off of anytime anyone would use Auto-tune?” DJ Drama questioned in an interview with T-Pain. “Yeah. Absolutely. It was nuts, it was real crazy. Diddy gave me points on Last Train To Paris cause he used Auto- tune,” T-Pain answered.
