Rapper Money Man Is the First Ever Artist To Receive An Advance Via Cryptocurrency With New Album

December 19th, 2021

Atlanta rapper Money Man recently dropped his new album Blockchain where he was paid a million dollar advance from his label, EMPIRE, in Bitcoin via Cash App. The label announced back in November that they would offer their artists the option to receive their advances through this specific cryptocurrency.

The label’s CEO/ founder, Ghazi, spoke briefly with Billboard stating that it felt organic to start with Money Man to receive the advance in Bitcoin as they embark on a new journey of financial tools for their affiliates.

Money Man, who is also an entrepreneur, has been into cryptocurrency long before it became known worldwide. Back in 2018, he bought himself out of his prior record label contract with the earnings he received from investing in Bitcoin early on. With his profound passion of knowing the different forms of money, investing, and cryptocurrency, he decided to share this love on his latest album Blockchain.

Blockchain is a one-of-a-kind type of album with an ultimate focus on cryptocurrency but Money Man shows us that’s he‘s much more than just his investments. On this album Money Man discusses pain that he’s endured with a past love interest, past struggles in his life, self worth, and how it is to be a self-made boss and a “walking business.” The EMPIRE signee received features from artists Moneybagg Yo, Yung Bleu, and Jackboy, bringing a different sound to his latest album.

In our interview, we briefly spoke with the “walking business” on his new album, his relationship with his fans, his plans during the holiday season, what’s next for him in music and so much more! Money Man even hinted at possibly conducting a conference for those who were interested in learning more about the different lanes of cryptocurrency. Check out the full interview below!
