Dion Marquise Hayes, also known as 42 Dugg, will face additional time in prison, longer than he expected.
The Detroit rapper allegedly failed to report to his prison sentence resulting in his arrest in Michigan.
Dugg was originally arrested in 2020 for illegal possession of a firearm, to which he later pleaded guilty. As a prior convicted felon for carjacking and firearms possession, Dugg was unable to use guns, and was sent to authorities.
In May 2021, 42 Dugg and his legal team were able to achieve plea negotiations for no prison time in exchange for probation. A judge later revoked his probation, giving him six months in jail and a two-year sentence of supervised release.
During his court hearing, Dugg confessed to the court that he purposely failed to show up for his prison sentence. The court ruled that he could face additional time behind bars and potentially face a $250,000 fine.
The presiding judge in the case, William Ray II has the ability to override recommendations from prosecutors and lengthen Dugg’s stay in prison.
The rapper has negotiated with authorities and agreed to attend a 30 day inpatient drug treatment prior to his release, and a 30 day outpatient program after.
42 Dugg’s prison sentence will begin on May 10th.
