French Montana is being sued for $50,000 following a shooting that took place on January 5th.
The shooting took place outside a restaurant in Miami Gardens, Florida, where French Montana was shooting a music video for his and Rob49’s “Igloo.” At least 10 people were injured during the shooting, while French Montana remained unharmed.
According to the Miami Herald, an unknown man opened fire with an assault rifle, while barricading himself with a car that was being used for the shoot.
The rapper later released a statement on Twitter, saying “We unfortunately were at the wrong place, at the wrong time when an incident took place that left people hurt. Our thoughts & prayers are w/ the victims & families at this time.”
Carl Leon, who was injured during the shooting, is suing the rapper, calling the incident a “preventable, foreseeable incident.” Leon is seeking damages over $50,000, including attorney fees.
According to the lawsuit, Leon suffered “great bodily injury” as well as “loss of the capacity for the enjoyment for life”.
“This video should have never taken place,” said Josiah D. Graham, who is serving as Leon’s attorney, “law enforcement would have been present to deter any form of criminal activity.”
“Carl Leon was never invited to the restaurant at the night of the incident,” claims Teddy Anastasiou, French Montana’s attorney. “His interest in litigation is solely to exploit and benefit financially from it.”
